Podcast 22 – July 4 and Hebrews 11
Hey again everybody, thanks for tuning in. Today I start with a short reading that was excerpted from Shane Idleman’s book One Nation ‘Above’ God. His books and speaking excerpts can be viewed at www.ShaneIdleman.com.
I briefly mention the new OS3 that just came out for the iPod Touch and the cool FREE Bible Reader software I got from OliveTree. Very cool and extremely functional.
Next Rich takes us through chapter 11 of Hebrews and the very beginning of chapter 12. I know you’ll be blessed by his take on this pivotal section of Hebrews.
As always, please feel free to leave your comments in this blog post or email us directly at show (at) dontblamejesus (dot) com. God bless.
Podcast 21 – Jon & Kate, Standing at the Door, and more Anger Management
Today starts off with me talking about the television show on TLC called Jon & Kate Plus Eight. I talk about the show from the perspective of having watched it from the beginning and how it has changed over the years.
Next, Rich reads the wonderful poem by Sam Shoemaker called “I Stand by the Door.” It is a reminder of our duty as believers to bring people to the same place we have been brought and not to forget where we once were. All too often Christians can forget what it was like to be a non-believer and lose their empathy for the lost.
Next we transition into a revisitation of the topic of our anger towards others when they do us wrong from the perspective of our having been forgiven.

Podcast 20 – Anger and Inverness
Today Rich and I discuss anger and how difficult it is to follow the example of Christ and be angry yet sin not. Our anger often times gets the better of us and is part of the natural state of mankind. Rich opens up the Bible to the book of Ephesians in chapter 4 verses 26 – 32 and chapter 2 verses 8 – 10.
Next Rich tells us about some of his ministry history starting in his senior year of high school. It is an exciting adventure of faith as Rich seeks to minister in Inverness Scotland.

Podcast 19 – The Shack, Spiritual Gifts and the Walk of Faith
This week Rich and I really peg the “Controvery-O-Meter” as we discuss the Christian fiction novel The Shack and whether the spiritual sign gifts are for today. Yeah, I know… just string us up right now. We also talk about the walk of faith that we are called to as followers of Christ and how hard that can be sometimes.

Podcast 18 – Political Un-correctness and other Unpatriotic Thought Crimes
This week is a total downer. Rich and I talk about the new Department of Homeland Security Report. With the broadest of strokes the DHS has attempted to paint all conservative American citizens as whacked out right-wing extremists. As you know there are whack jobs in every corner of the world, but this report crosses the line by associating their unorthodox views with the majority of good American citizens. Not cool. This is an assault on freedom of speech and ultimately an assault on the freedom of thought in the US. We are hoping for better things from America.
Podcast 18 - Political Un-correctness and other Unpatriotic Thought Crimes [23:30m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | DownloadWe also talk about Steve Taylor’s ground breaking song and video titled “I Blew Up The Clinic Real Good.” Although this 80′s music video is obviously satire, Rich and I both feel that the DHS should travel back in time and retroactively arrest Steve Taylor for this thought crime. Bombing and clinics is not a joking matter… just try saying that in an airport.
Podcast 17 – Love and Salvation in Philippians 3
Rich and I go through the 3rd chapter of the book of Philippians… eventually. We also talk at length about how short we fall in our attempts to have a righteousness of our own making. It is very easy to take pride in our standards of morality and our seeming superiority over others in the world. What we forget is that our ultimate yardstick upon which we should measure our righteousness is Christ and against that yardstick we fall so completely short.
As I mentioned in the podcast, if you want to learn how to be saved you can find more information from our friends at BlueLetterBible.org. As always if you have questions or comments please send them to us at show (at) dontblamejesus (dot) com or post them in the comments section of this post.
Podcast 16 – Violence and Hope
This week starts on a kind of sad note as I briefly talk about the rash of shootings that have taken place across this country and the world the last few months. I feel a particular pain for the family of Pastor Fred Winters who was shoot to death while preaching from the pulpit. My thoughts and prayers go out to the congregation in Maryville, his family and the whole town. I pray that God’s overwhelming grace and peace would move with healing for that city. I look at Galatians 6:9 which encourages us to not grow weary but continue in doing good . Don’t give up my brothers and sisters.
Rich then takes us through 2 Thessalonians chapter 1 verses 11 & 12. A superficial reading simply doesn’t do this scripture justice. Rich peels back the layers and shows God’s amazing grace and love for us. It is amazing how much meaning and theology is packed into these two verses.
If you use Facebook and are a collector of Flair, we now have Official Don’t Blame Jesus Flair. If you would like it please send us an email at show (at) dontblamejesus (dot) com. I did send it out to a few of our super fans, so you guys and gals feel free to pass it on.
Podcast 15 – Why do we need a Savior
This week Rich and I talk about our master plan for a 3 hour show every day. Just kidding, we are actually looking at salvation and our desperate need for it. We so often forget just how much we need salvation because we tend to buy into the world’s thinking that people are basically good. The reality is that if we take an honest look at ourselves against the standard of a Holy God, we fall so far short.
Get your Bibles ready in 1 John 2:1-2 and Psalm 22 as we look to the scriptures for a true picture of our predicament and our only hope, salvation through Jesus Christ.
As we always say, please feel free to email us your comments or questions to show (at) dontblamejesus (dot) com. We also would like to pray for you and answer any questions you may have. We are here to serve.
Podcast 14 – Mix and Match Faith
This week Rich and I talk about some people in the world who take different parts from different faiths to create their own Frankenstein monster of faith. Yes, it’s as scary as it sounds. Rich gives a great example about a Ninja-Pirate-Biker who has trouble fitting in.
I start the podcast with a little shout out to Air1.com, the nationwide Christian radio station that is relatively new to our town. You can listen online or you can find your own Air1 Affiliate and listen on the radio. I have listened to stations from all around the country and have really come to appreciate Air1. It is a great mix of music, songs the whole family can enjoy. I have also really enjoyed hearing the stories from people who’s lives have been changes by the ministry of Air1. Way to go guys.
